DAY 10: 2 SAMUEL

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence.” (2 Samuel 22:2-3)

Dear Christian,

The Lord is our anchor, our haven, and our rescuer.

God is our anchor — Though we get tossed and thrown by the waves of life, we can trust that God will remain immoveable and steadfast no matter our circumstance. Though we are tempted towards anxiety, overwhelm, or worry — we can trust in the sure promises of the Lord because He is the same God in the past, present, and future.

God is our haven — God does not promise to give us easy lives. But He does promise to be with us until the end.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” (Isaiah 43:2)

God is our rescuer — When we could not save ourselves no matter how hard we tried to, God sent us Jesus. Jesus came on a rescue mission to live the perfect life we failed to live, and to take our spot on the cross for our sins. And so as God looks at us, He sees not our sin, but Christ’s perfect record. Our sin is no more. Jesus has paid it all.
