DAY 28: HOSEA

“Come, let us return to the Lord; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up.” (Hosea 6:1)

Dear Christian,

Return to the Lord.

Since the fall, man’s temptation has been about becoming our own gods and ignoring God in the world that He created. Instead of following His ways, we are tempted to follow our own passions — worshipping and serving the creature rather than the Creator. 

Story after story, we see God’s people turn away from the Lord. But in spite of the people’s unfaithfulness, the Lord still shares His desire for restoration and reconciliation.

The Lord wants His people to repent and to be healed. Simply said, repentance is turning away from sin or from idols (things in which we find our meaning and significance), and turning back to God. But we have miserably failed in doing this on our own.

And so because of God’s great love for us, He sent us Jesus to come and live the perfect and sinless life we failed to live and to die the sinner’s death we deserved to die, so that when the Father looks at us, He sees not our sin, not our unfaithfulness, but Christ’s perfect, spotless, record. 

When we ran away from the Lord, He pursued us on earth. Not only did He pursue, but He also died for us, so that we can live forever. Return to the Lord. He is faithful and good.
