DAY 13: 1 CHRONICLES

“Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!” (1 Chronicles 16:11)

Dear Christian,

Seek the Lord.

What does it mean to seek the Lord? It is not merely a one-time event or an occasional endeavor. It is an active and intentional pursuit of a deep and vibrant relationship with God. Like a garden that needs to be tended and nurtured, so is our relationship with God. It does not flourish when we ignore Him or only think about Him on Sundays. To seek the Lord continually is an ongoing journey, one in which the apostle Paul describes as a race. 

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2)

When we fix our eyes on Jesus, a couple of things will happen whether you notice it or not:

1. God’s Word transforms us more and more into His likeness

2. When trials come our way, we rely on the Lord’s strength and not our own - “We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. (2 Corinthians 4:8-10)

3. We are guarded against complacency. Instead of being sleepy Christians, we are awake, alert, and receptive to the Lord.

Let us encourage and build up one another in the Lord, to seek Him and to love Him for all our days.
