DAY 29: JOEL
“The LORD roars from Zion, and utters his voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth quake. But the LORD is a refuge to his people, a stronghold to the people of Israel.” (Joel 3:16)
Dear Christian,
The Lord is our refuge.
In times of chaos, turmoil, and pain, we can fix our eyes on the Lord who is our strength and refuge. While our circumstances can be less than ideal at times, we can always be content through Christ.
True contentment is not found in our circumstances, in accomplishments, in the number in our bank accounts, or our influence. In a broken world, these things come and go.
Contentment is found in treasuring and knowing Christ. The whole world dims compared to knowing Him. And the apostle Paul knows this deeply as he writes to the Philippians from prison.
“But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith” (Philippians 3:7-9)
May we, like Paul, find comfort and contentment through Christ even in difficult times.
Love,
Patsy
