DAY 24: JEREMIAH
“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
Dear Christian,
What are you seeking with all your heart?
What do you turn to for comfort, for security, for significance, and for meaning? Are you looking to recreation, a career, a sport, a family, a home, a relationship?
All these things are good and beautiful but when we center our whole lives around them, we find out in one way or another that they make terrible gods and masters. A career can be short lived, a sport can end in an injury, a home can fall apart. When we turn God’s gifts into gods, places of security and significance, it would destroy us to lose these things. We protect these at all costs and we sacrifice others to do it.
But not our God. He has never failed you and He never will.
In Isaiah we read, “Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.” (Isaiah 55:2)
Seek the Lord with all your heart. Our hearts were created to worship the Lord and it is in our worship that we find our greatest joy.
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” (Psalm 34:8)
Love,
Patsy
