DAY 34: NAHUM
“The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.” (Nahum 1:7)
Dear Christian,
The Lord cares for you.
God is not distant or indifferent to our struggles. He cares deeply about our hearts, our relationships, our pains, our struggles, and our longings. When I was growing up, I believed the lie that God was far more occupied with important things going on in the world. He wouldn’t have any time for me. Or if He did, would He actually care about what I took as a job or who I dated? He felt distant, far, and cold.
But He is far from it.
“O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.” (Psalm 139:1-6)
The Lord knows us through and through. He knows us better than we know ourselves. And He will not stand by and watch us fall into self-destruction. How do we know this to be true?
Instead of backing away from His creation, God sent us Jesus so that He can do what we cannot do for ourselves. While we failed in fulfilling God’s every good law and command, Jesus fulfilled them. While we tried to sabotage God’s plan by killing His Son, Jesus willingly did it so that He can save us. He took our place, so that we can take His place in Heaven.
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble. You can trust Him.
Love,
Patsy
