DAY 33: MICAH
“But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me. Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.” (Micah 7:7-8)
Dear Christian,
In the midst of a dark and challenging world, look to the Lord.
In this book, Micah laments the corruption, injustice, and sinfulness that pervades society. The book was written many years ago, but the world doesn’t look much different today. We still live in the midst of brokenness, pain, injustice, and exploitation.
But praise the Lord that we have a hope that is bigger than the headlines. God has not left us on our own.
By our own strength, we don’t have much hope. We strive to do good, pull ourselves up by our bootstraps, but it’s only a matter of time before we fall short of our noble goals. But where our failure abounds, God’s grace abounds all the more.
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:4-7)
On our own the world is dark, bleak, and without hope, but with our God there is joy, beauty, truth, hope, and light. When you fall, you shall rise; when you sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to you.
Love,
Patsy
