DAY 45: ROMANS
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
Dear Christian,
Nothing can separate you from God’s love.
Rejoice in this wonderful truth today! When the Lord set His heart on us, He never wavers in His love. Over and over scripture repeats that His steadfast love endures forever.
When you really think about it, death may be our greatest and ultimate enemy. It separates us from this world and from everybody we love. Death is unnerving and painful — and it should be! When the Lord created man, death was nowhere to be found. It came into the world when man broke the harmony and shalom of creation and it resulted in pain and death. But this verse reminds us that not even death can separate us from the love of God.
We know this to be true because Jesus came, not to condemn us, but to take all of our failures and sins to the cross. The very thing that brought death into creation, He carried up the hill of Calvary and put it all on Himself. “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)
While we have no hope of ever conquering death on our own, Jesus experienced death in our place on the cross, so that we can take what He earned (eternal life) and be reconciled with the Father forever.
Love,
Patsy
