DAY 54: 1 TIMOTHY

“Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith.” (1 Timothy 6:11b-12a)

Dear Christian,

You are in battle. Put on the armor of God. 

In this world, we will encounter strife, temptations, persecutions, and darkness. The world is filled with many voices claiming lies to be true, and even our own hearts lead us astray at times.

Take heart. The Lord has given us a firm foundation of truth in his word. While the Bible paints a picture of how broken man is, the Scriptures also reveal to us a God who us mighty, faithful, loving, and gracious. And this God plans to redeem us from all our brokenness. So drink richly from the word of God. What we repeat in times of ease, we recall in times of trouble.

“Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.” (Ephesians 6:14-18)
