DAY 53: 2 THESSALONIANS

“So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.” (2 Thessalonians 2:15-17)

Dear Christian,

Stand firm in your faith.

While it can be tempting to be swept away by the latest trends of this or that, I encourage you to hold fast to what has been passed down to us in the faith, especially Scripture. 

In a world that often seeks to redefine truth and morality, it is crucial to anchor ourselves in the unchanging principles of the gospel. While the world offers us novelty, our God offers us the same message yesterday, today, and tomorrow — and it is the only message that can bring redemption and eternal hope.

Let us not be like children, “tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.” (Ephesians 4:14) Instead let us be rooted in our God who loved us and gave Himself for us.

As Jen Wilkin says, “It is not new truths we need; we need old truths recently forgotten.”
