DAY 39: MALACHI
“For I the Lord do not change;” (Malachi 3:6)
Dear Christian,
Our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
We live in a world that is always changing. What was the norm 35 years ago (before access to the internet) is not the norm today. Our world seems to be in constant flux, where uncertainty and change are ever present. But in spite of all these changes, we can find solace in the truth that God stays the same. He remains faithful, and His love for us endures forever.
Many of Christianity’s claims are unpopular today with culture’s shifting tides and interests, but it’s not really any different compared to other times in history. I often forget that Jesus Himself was rejected and killed by His own creation. But it was done to fulfill a promise that was given to us in Genesis 3 and all throughout scripture. Christ’s death and resurrection is still a picture of God’s faithfulness and unchanging character.
One thing we see all throughout scripture is that God’s promises appear to be more and more impossible to fulfill. Just consider the promised son of Abraham, who wouldn’t come until decades have passed. But the Lord kept His promise. Consider God telling Abraham to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, who was to fulfill the promise that he will be a father of a multitude. But God kept His promise and provided a ram in his place.
One thing we know is sure, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” (Isaiah 40:8) Nothing is impossible with God.
Love,
Patsy
