DAY 38: ZECHARIAH

“Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6)

Dear Christian,

The Lord is the source of your strength, hope, and victory.

In this life, sometimes we are faced with daunting tasks and challenges that leave us overwhelmed, discouraged, or tempted to rely solely on our own strength and power. But the Lord beckons us not to rely on our own strength but by His Spirit.

I am reminded of the book of Judges when the Lord decreased Gideon’s army from 32,000 to 300 so that no one may boast that their own hand has saved them. It may seem counterintuitive and unwise not to exert all our strength in overwhelming scenarios, but the Lord is truer than our circumstances. He is able, mighty, faithful, and good.

God’s Spirit rests in you today — equipping you, empowering you, and enabling you to accomplish what is impossible in your own strength. So let us walk boldly, not in our own might, but by His Spirit.
