DAY 7: JUDGES
“Then the people of Israel cried out to the Lord, and the Lord raised up for them a deliverer…” (Judges 3:15)
Dear Christian,
In the book of Judges, we see this cycle take place:
The people do what is evil in the sight of God
The people face the consequences of their disobedience
The people cry out to God
God raises up a deliverer
Over and over we see this story told. Judge after judge gets replaced because they either die or get killed. And it leaves us searching for a judge and a king who cannot die and who can successfully lead the people back to God.
We know that this search ended when Jesus came. Jesus is the King, the Judge, the Great High Priest who lives on forever. In Hebrews 7:23-25, we read:
“The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.”
Because of God’s great love for us, He sent us His only begotten Son to deliver us from our sin and to give us eternal life so we can enjoy the Lord forever. Jesus lives on even today, interceding for us and pleading to the Father that we are “not guilty” since He has already paid the price of our sins — past, present, and future.
Praise the Lord for giving us Jesus, who, not only broke the cycle of death, but who also brought us close to God the Father.
Love,
Patsy
