DAY 6: JOSHUA
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
Dear Christian,
God is with you wherever you go. He will not leave you nor forsake you.
We often forget this when we face difficult seasons of drought, barrenness, uncertainty, or fear. If you are like me, you may be tempted to focus on what’s in front of you and not much else.
We see our circumstances, we see the people around us, we see the consequences of our own actions. They are tangible, firm, and unquestionable.
But God reminds us that He is truer than our circumstances.
I think of David, a young shepherd facing a champion experienced in warfare and combat. I think of the Israelites, nomads wandering in the wilderness for decades. I think of Joseph, sold to slavery by his brothers. I think of Ruth, widowed and left to care for her grieving mother-in-law.
Every situation probably looks hopeless to an outside observer. But God is truer than our circumstances.
Through David, God showed us that He needs not sword nor spear for victory. In the wilderness, God showed us how He is Provider of food, water, shelter, and security. Through Joseph, God showed us how He is our Reconciler of broken relationships. Through Ruth, God showed us how He is our Redeemer.
Take heart. You are not walking alone. God is with you, He sees you, and He cares for you.
Love,
Patsy
