DAY 35: HABAKKUK
“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places.” (Habakkuk 3:17-19)
Dear Christian,
Even if things don’t turn out the way we hope it would, rejoice in the Lord!
This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible as it shows us someone who loves the Lord, not for His good gifts, but loves God for Himself.
Even if I don’t get the house I want, even if I don’t get the job I want, even if I don’t get the lifestyle I want, yet I will rejoice in the Lord.
In today’s world, we are often shocked when we experience unmet desires. We are accustomed to getting what we want whenever we want it. Whether it be access to shops or restaurants 24/7, access to a vast library of movies, TV shows, and music, or access to food delivery service from almost any restaurant we can imagine.
But friend — Jesus is enough.
Even if our greatest hopes and dreams are not realized in this life, Jesus is enough. Even if we don’t ever conceive, Jesus is enough. Even if we lose everything we have tomorrow, Jesus is enough.
Jesus has secured for us a living hope — an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. A future where, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." (Revelation 21:4)
“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18)
Love,
Patsy
