DAY 50: PHILIPPIANS
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.” (Philippians 4:4-7)
Dear Christian,
In a world that is increasingly becoming more and more discontent, rejoice!
When Paul wrote the letter to the Philippians, he was writing from jail. In his letter he says, “I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:11b-13)
Friend, you can always be content through Christ.
If you ever wondered what “secret” Paul was referring to that has led him to face plenty and hunger, it is this: treasuring Christ.
Discontentment comes from unfulfilled longings and expectations. But Christ is the fulfillment of every need our hearts long for. When we treasure Jesus above everything else, the whole world becomes dim and pales in comparison to His beauty.
In Christ, we get a restored relationship with God the Father forever. In Christ, we have an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. In Christ, we have nothing to prove, we can walk in freedom, joy, and hope. In Christ, we can face death and be unafraid, knowing that not even death can separate us from the love of God.
In Christ, we can rejoice because His promises are true and are already unfolding before us. Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!
Love,
Patsy
