DAY 30: AMOS

For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: “Seek me and live;” (Amos 5:4)

Dear Christian,

Seek the Lord.

How crazy is it that the Lord of the universe desires for us to have a personal relationship with Him? He is not fooled by lip service or empty prayers. He desires all of our minds, hearts, and souls. And He desires this, not because He needs it, but because He knows that in seeking Him we will live and flourish. We were created for Him after all.

In Amos, we see the people of God turn away from Him again. Though they praised Him with their lips, they trampled on the poor. Though they held solemn assemblies for God, they took bribes from the unrighteous. 

But the Lord extends His mercy as He calls them to turn from sin and to return back to Himself. The Lord is patient with His people. We can come to Him.
