DAY 52: 1 THESSALONIANS

“…aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.” (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12)

Dear Christian,

Live quietly, mind your own affairs, and work with your hands.

We are called to cultivate, to build, to create, to restore, to heal, and to redeem. All of it is a reflection of who God is. 

We live in a fallen world where the temptation to fall idle or get distracted is high. We concern ourselves with things we probably shouldn’t be concerned about, and we forget to care for things that God has entrusted to us. And yet God extends grace to us each day and beckons us to join Him in His work of redeeming and restoring our broken world.

What has God entrusted to you? Tend those things toward intentional order instead of chaotic disorder, and toward careful wisdom instead of childish impulse.
