DAY 2: EXODUS
“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” (Exodus 14:14)
Dear Christian,
During a time of great oppression, slavery, and suffering, the Lord heard Israel’s cries and groaning and He acted. It’s one thing to have a God who sees, but it’s another to have a God who, not only sees, but also acts on your behalf.
When I read the book of Exodus, I see the Israelites as a broken people — hardened by years of suffering and pain. Over and over we hear them cry out and complain to Moses that he should have left them alone in Egypt. We hear them grumble and distrust God even after all the miracles they’ve witnessed and encountered.
But the good news is God is a God who remembers His promises. Though the people found it hard to trust in the Lord, though the people had so little faith, the Lord came and delivered them out of slavery.
God remembered the promises He made to Abraham, to Isaac, to Jacob. And God remembered the promised offspring who would come to deliver us, not from slavery of man, but of slavery of sin.
The Lord will fight for you because He keeps His promises. He is faithful until the end.
Love,
Patsy
